21/03/2016
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has issued a notice inviting companies to bid to design a new common effluent treatment plant for the Sialkot Tannery Zone in Pakistan.

This project is a joint initiative involving the government of Pakistan, the Sialkot Tannery Association, the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Punjab Environment Protection Department, and UNIDO, with funding coming from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

GEF is a body set up in 1992 to help tackle environmental challenges. Since its inception, it has provided $14.5 billion in grants and mobilised $75.4 billion in additional financing for almost 4,000 projects. UNIDO is one the organisation’s 18 “implementing partners”.

For the new common effluent treatment plant in Sialkot, interest parties have until May 30 to submit bids.
