Facing a downturn in the industry, French tannery Pechdo diversified its offering to provide touch-sensitive leather for smart phones, washable lambskin and cooling leather for jackets, which have allowed it to thrive, according to local press.

The Millau-based tannery was established in 1900 and originally focused on gloving leather, but has now expanded into the fashion sector.

It employs about 40 people and exports 40% of its leather.
