Handbag start-up makes Walpole Brands of Tomorrow list
UK luxury industry association Walpole has announced its selections in the 2016 Brands of Tomorrow competition.

An alliance of 170 UK luxury brands, including Burberry, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jimmy Choo, Mulberry and Smythson, Walpole seeks to provide a platform for high-end businesses to share ideas and best practice. It has run the Brands of Tomorrow competition since 2007.

Announcing the winners for 2016, Walpole chief executive, Michelle Emmerson, said: “What Brands of Tomorrow recognises is the trailblazing brands who are championing innovation in their sectors. Discovering and nurturing new talent is a leading priority for Walpole and our members; as luxury industry leaders it is our responsibility to ensure the future success and sustainability of a sector which is forecast to be worth £51.5bn to the UK economy by 2019.”

This year, the 12 Brands of Tomorrow include Milli Millu, a London-based luxury handbag brand. Founded in 2010 by Harvard Business School graduate Mireia Llusia-Lindh, Milli Millu has attracted some celebrity attention, from people including Beyoncé, Lily Collins and January Jones. Through an initiative called‘ A Bag, A Life’, for every bag sold Milli Millu funds a set of lifesaving vaccines aimed to save the life of a child in need.
