National honour for Scottish Leather Group chairman
The current president of COTANCE, the leather industry’s representative body in the European Union, Jonathan Muirhead, has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Mr Muirhead, who is chairman of the Scottish Leather Group, won the nomination at the start of January for services to the leather industry in the United Kingdom.

At the start of each year, the UK monarchy awards a wide variety of people with a range of honours to mark their years of service to business, government, sport, science, medicine, the arts and community life.

After the announcement, Mr Muirhead said: “I was completely stunned when I learned of the honour. I am also absolutely delighted, and extremely proud, in particular of the recognition for the leather industry and of the great work and successes of the individuals and brands within Scottish Leather Group. It is a great privilege to be recognised in this way, and I aim to use it to further my work as (what I hope is) a very positive representative not only of Scottish Leather Group, but of the leather industry internationally.”
