Turkey’s minister of food, agriculture and animal husbandry, Faruk Celik, has told local media that a vaccine developed in Turkey to vaccinate cattle against foot and mouth disease (FMD) is in demand overseas.

Mr Celik said Turkey had received a request from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations for 5 million doses of the vaccine for use in various countries around the world.

He said the Turkish-developed vaccine can treat types A, O, Asia 1 and Nepal A of FMD.
