New blog entry: predictions for 2016 (part two)
Leatherbiz has now published the second part of the December blog entry from regular columnist David Peters.

In his new column, Mr Peters presents a series of predictions about what he believes will happen in the global leather industry in 2016 and features so many possible developments that the blog entry runs in two parts.

The second part focuses on cimate change, hide prices, consolidation and other challenges facing the industry.

One of the points that Mr Peters makes is that the share of five states (Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio) represents a combined total of 13.5% of all US cattle on feed compared to Texas with 13%. The importance of this for tanners is that these five states ought to offer hides with less branding and better grain.

Readers can visit the blog section and read both parts of the December column now.
