Tyson slaughter rates down by 4,000 head per week

07/12/2015
A December market update from Tyson Foods confirmed a current average weekly slaughter rate of 128,000 head across 12 plants in the US.

Tyson still claims to be the top US beef packer, with 24% of the country’s slaughter, but the figures given at the end of 2015 show a decline of 4,000 head per week compared to the slaughter levels it had in 2014.

It closed a plant at Denison in Iowa in August this year because of a decline in cattle supply.
