Ranipet start-up offers enzyme-based tanning technology

A start-up company based in Ranipet in India, Capri Enzymes, has said the leather industry is one of its main target areas.

Chief executive, VS Ravindran, has a background as a leather technologist and has said tanners will benefit from his company’s enzyme-based technology to make leather and to treat the waste their processes generate.

Capri Enzymes has told media in India that it is partnering with an unnamed Spanish company to source concentrated enzymes for leather production. It said the early reaction of some tanners in India has been positive.
