Senegalese city could get new artisan leather production zone

Government agencies in Senegal have launched a feasibility study into the possibility of establishing a special artisan industrial zone specialising in leather in the central city of Touba. A workshop took place in Touba on October 8 to engage the support of the local authorities.

The plan envisages adding a new tannery and training centre to the new abattoir that Touba already has in place. A wastewater treatment plant and a distribution centre will also be part of the new set-up if the plan goes ahead.
