Pakistan: leather sector exports fall in volume and value in 2014-2015 fiscal year

Pakistan’s leather exports fell in value by 6.1% in the financial year the ended in June, dropping to just over $1.2 billion, compared to almost $1.3 billion in the previous financial year. Pakistan’s financial year runs from July to June each year.

In July 2014-June 2015, Pakistan’s tanners exported 21.1 million square-metres, which had a value of $488.7 million. These figures represent year-on-year falls of 28.8% in volume and of 11.3% in value.

Over the same period, Pakistan exported 13.9 million pairs of shoes with a value of $131.2 million, a decline of 13.4% in volume but an increase in value of almost 10.2%.
