Volkswagen on course to take over top-seller crown from Toyota

Half-yearly figures from automotive group Toyota show that it delivered 5.02 million vehicles between January and June 2015. With Volkswagen reporting 5.04 million for the same period, the German group is on track to be the biggest-selling automotive company in the world in 2015. Toyota has been the biggest seller in each of the last three years.

Toyota’s volumes fell by 5.7% year on year for the six-month period, although it reported growth of 2.7% in North America and increases in revenues and profits because, analysts said immediately, of a decrease in the value of the yen.
