Paul Ockerse to help push Zenith’s Green Leather Solutions in China

His responsibilities will include growing direct sales of a range of products Zenith calls Green Leather Solutions. Introduced in Hong Kong at the 2015 APLF exhibition, this new range consists of what the company describes as green fungicide technologies that it developed specifically for the leather industry.
In a statement it gave to World Leather in May at the time of Mr Ockerse’s appointment, Zenith said: “They are the first truly green fungicides that meet the US Environmental Protection Agency’s definition and principles of green chemistry. These products are non-hazardous, non-irritating, low in toxicity, yet more efficient and cost-effective for leather preservation than older-generation products on the market.”
It said they are already in commercial use by “a few hundred tanneries” that, together, produce a full range of products including wet blue, wet white and finished veg-tanned and chrome-tanned leather. Products have been tested for skin irritation potential by leather technology centre BLC.
