Tyson holds onto number-one position in US cattle slaughter capacity
US packer firm Tyson has announced full-year sales for 2014 of $37.6 billion. The company, which is the second-largest in food production in the Fortune 500 (behind grain producer Archer Daniels Midland), said it had brought in 42% of its 2014 sales from beef, making its beef business last year worth $15.8 billion.

Tyson runs 13 beef plants and six hide processing plants across the US and says these facilities give 24% of the total daily US slaughter capacity compared to 22% for JBS, 19% for Cargill, 10% for National Beef and 25% for all other operators combined.
