And, following a brief break from work, Mr Gigante is reported to have taken a leadership role at one of France’s most famous leather producers, Tanneries du Puy.

Recent years have been difficult for Tanneries du Puy. A change of ownership and investment in new technology in the early part of this decade was followed by several changes at the top of the company, with a number of business figures with links to luxury footwear brand Weston trying to turn the tannery’s fortunes around, a task that Jean-Marie Gigante will now take up, if the reports are accurate.
