India will be the venue for next year’s UITIC Congress

India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has announced that it will take lead responsibility for organising the next UITIC (the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians) Congress.

The event, the nineteenth UITIC Congress, will take place in Chennai from February 3-5, 2016. This will be the first time India, the second-largest shoe producing country in the world (after China), plays host to the event.

“Brands, footwear manufacturers and experts will join together to discuss the future of the footwear factory as well as innovations in the industry,” CLE said on making the announcement.

Seven well known industry figures from India, Portugal, Italy, Mexico, Spain and France will form the event’s scientific committee and will launch a call for papers in March 2015.
