Spain: Record footwear sales counter economic gloom

13/02/2015
Sales of footwear made in Spain reached a record €2.5 billion in value in the first 11 months of 2014, with most heading to France (22%), Italy (10%), Germany, Portugal and the UK.

The country sold 144 million pairs between January and the end of November, according to FICE, the Spanish Footwear Industry Federation. These figures represent an increase of 16% in revenue and 13% in volume compared to the same period of the previous year.

“Companies continue to make major efforts in cutting costs and reducing profit margins in order to offer international markets quality products, competitive prices and attractive designs,” said FICE.
