A delegation from South Africa will visit Institute for Creative Leather Technologies at the University of Northampton in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility of a tie-up with a university there.

Professor Gerry Swan, head of the newly established exotic leather cluster in South Africa, and Mpho Ramoshaba, deputy director of leather and footwear at the South African department of trade and industry, are to visit the UK facility.

One of the things they have said they would like to discuss is the possibility of securing the help of the University of Northampton in setting up a new leather research institute at the University of Pretoria. They have suggested that the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies could even offer a post-graduate master’s degree through the University of Pretoria.
