Leather among the winners as Colombia-South Korea FTA comes closer

18/12/2014
Colombia’s ministry of commerce has picked out the country’s leather and leathergoods producers as two of the sectors most likely to benefit from a new free trade agreement with South Korea.

The two countries drew up the agreement in Seoul in February 2013, but it took until December 2014 for Colombia’s congress to give its approval. Commerce minister, Cecilia Álvarez-Correa, said afterwards that food and manufactured goods were the Colombian products most likely to see an increase in demand from buyers in the Asian country as a result.

She gave leather and leathergoods as two clear examples of products for which Colombian companies should now see export growth.
