Vietnamese government announces 15% wage rise for 2015

02/12/2014
Vietnam’s prime minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, has approved new minimum-wage levels for 2015.

Minimum monthly salaries in urban areas, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, will go up by 14.8% compared to this year’s minimum to take the new level to around $145 per person.

The increases in other parts of Vietnam will be slightly lower, which some observers have said shows that the government is concerned about making the country seem less attractive as a manufacturing location.
