Birkin’s first Birkin the pièce de résistance at Liberty event

Catherine B runs Les Trois Marches, a vintage shop in the Latin Quarter of the French capital that is famous for its collection of vintage high-end bags, with Hermès and Chanel her speciality. The shop is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year.
The event at Liberty, which will take place from November 14-17, will feature vintage Hermès bags exclusively, some for sale, others available just to admire. Falling into the latter category will be a 30-year-old Birkin bag, especially significant because it is the first Birkin bag owned by the actress who inspired the bag, Jane Birkin.
Its inclusion is appropriate as Ms Birkin is originally from London and the inspiration for the bag came when she met Jean-Louis Dumas, then Hermès chief executive, on a flight from Paris to London.
