Demand for US beef ‘never been higher’

13/10/2014

The volume of beef exported from the US in August was lower than in August 2013, but was compensated for in a rise in value, according to the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF).

Despite the 3% decline in volume to 102,456 metric tons, it set a monthly value record of $655.2 million – up 16% from a year ago.

“International buyers are concerned about supplies, and whether we will be able to meet the growing demand for US beef,” said USMEF CEO Philip Seng. “But price and supply concerns notwithstanding, their enthusiasm for US beef has never been higher.”
