US tannery plans expansion

Ohio-based tannery Conneaut Leather has announced plans to expand its facilities and add around 15 jobs.

Jack Prause, company president, told local press that the business has been performing well recently, noting ‘significant’ growth and that he was optimistic for the expansion.

Plans involve nearly doubling the workspace and adding tanning and finishing capacity.

Conneaut Leather was founded in 1903 and began supplying to the upholstery industry in the 1940s, diversifying into automotive and aviation leather in the 1980s.
