Bottega Veneta outguns Gucci in Kering growth stakes

05/08/2014
Kering’s biggest leathergoods brand, Gucci, registered first-half sales of just under €1.7 billion in 2014, a decline of 4.5% compared to the same period last year.

In contrast, the group’s second-biggest leathergoods brand, Bottega Veneta, recorded growth of 12.9% to post sales of €525.5 million.

From May 2014, the group divided its luxury brands into a ‘Luxury – Couture & Leather Goods’ division and a ‘Luxury – Watches and Jewelry’ division. Bottega Veneta chief executive, Marco Bizzarri, became the head of the leathergoods collection of brands.

Ironically, Gucci remained outside this group, which also includes Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Brioni, Tomas Maier and Sergio Rossi.
