JBS contemplates new abattoir and (possibly) new tannery in Paraguay
23/07/2014
The company’s director in Paraguay, Caetano Gottardi, said recently in comments to a newspaper there that JBS will open a third abattoir in the country before the end of 2015, with slaughter capacity for 1,500 head of cattle per day. He said that the company may also open a tannery there at a later date.
Mr Gottardi said plans were in the final stages and that JBS may be ready to give precise details of the project in mid-August. He said construction on the new slaughterhouse was likely to begin in October.
JBS already runs two facilities in Paraguay. However, Mr Gottardi made it clear that this third facility would be in the north of the country.
