Specialist cutting technology provider Lectra has set up a new South Korean subsidiary. Lectra has been present in the country for more than 25 years through an agent, Impa Systems, and Impa’s entire staff has joined Lectra South Korea.

The new subsidiary will be managed by former Siemens executive Hong-Kwon Moon, reporting to Yves Delhaye, Lectra’s director for the region.

“South Korea is one of the eight economies expected to produce half of global growth during the current decade, together with Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, and Turkey,” said chief executive, Daniel Harari, on making the announcement. “These countries make up the key markets where we are already firmly established and where we continue to invest.”

Lectra South Korea will support local companies, with the automotive sector an area of particular focus. The technology provider said South Korean groups with an international presence were already among its largest customers. Many of these firms have expanded their production networks to other Asian countries now and are showing what it called “a growing interest in innovative solutions to improve efficiency and competitiveness while ensuring a high level of quality”.
