Luxury group LVMH has asked six leading figures in design from around the world to create their personal interpretations of the famous Louis Vuitton Monogram bag. The design, which has a motif of the famous LV initials, has been appearing on the brand’s bags since 1896.

At the start of June, LVMH vice-president, Delphine Arnault, and creative director for women’s collections, Nicolas Ghesquière, confirmed that they had invited six designers to recreate the Monogram and that LVMH will combine all six in a new limited-edition collection called ‘Icons and Iconoclasts’ that will go on sale at specially selected own-brand boutiques this autumn.

The six guest Monogram creators will be fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld and Rei Kawakubo, footwear designer Christian Louboutin, photographer Cindy Sherman, industrial designer Marc Newson and architect Frank Gehry.
