Middle-eastern airline chooses camel leather for aircraft interior

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has used locally sourced camel leather to upholster part of a new ‘smart’ seat in the economy cabins of its Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The new seats will be delivered later this year and will, the airline has said, offer guests enhanced comfort and entertainment.

A key component of the seat is a ‘fixed-wing’ headrest that offers a firm surface for passengers to rest their heads, as well as additional privacy between seats. It is in this headrest that Etihad has used camel leather.
