Bill Amberg says Selfridges leather floor is improving with age

Specialist leather interiors and accessories designer Bill Amberg has said that the leather floor in the men’s footwear department in London-based department store Selfridges has become “even more elegant” since he and his team put it in in November 2012.

Speaking at APLF 2014, Mr Amberg said the 300 square-metres of soling leather of which the floor is made provided “a luxurious element” to that part of the store. “Leather is not a novelty material,” he said, “it’s a luxurious material and it should be treated as such. The floor is becoming more and more elegant all the time.”
