Lineapelle to leave Bologna and move to Milan
Reports at the end of the March edition of Lineapelle have said the event will end its relationship with Bologna and move to Milan.

Italy’s main business newspaper, Il Sole 24 Ore, reported that a severing of the ties between Bologna and the tanning industry event was inevitable. It said that Lineapelle, in the face of increasingly intense competition from rival show Le Cuir À Paris, hopes to benefit from a new start in Milan.

The newspaper said the Paris event is likely to enjoy increased investment from its new owners, event group Première Vision. It also made the comment that Bologna now appears increasingly “cut off from the main international fashion crossroads”.

Ownership of Lineapelle has been shared by Italian tanning industry association UNIC, the BolognaFiere fair organising company and by the show’s director, Salvatore Mercogliano. Comments from the president of BolognaFiere, Duccio Campagnoli, suggest he is strenuously opposed to the idea of a move. He even suggested Bologna would keep Lineapelle and that any new event in Milan would need to operate under a different name.
