Leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess has confirmed that its new chief executive, Matthias Zachert, will take up the role and become chairman of the company’s board of management on April 1, 2014.

Until Mr Zachert joins the company from his current role as chief financial officer of pharmaceutical and life sciences company Merck, Lanxess’s chief fiancial officer, Bernhard Duettmann, will carry out the chairman’s responsibilities.
