17/01/2014
The Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO) has published figures which show footwear and leathergoods exports from the country in 2013 totalled $10.32 billion – 18% higher than the year before – and now account for 8% of total exports.

The value of leathergoods exports reached $1.92 billion in value, a 26% increase, while footwear exports grew 15% to $8.4 billion.

LEFASO is targeting a total $12 billion in 2014 as it hopes to benefit from various trade agreements, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership and an EU agreement, currently under discussion. A third of leathergoods and shoe exports went to the US and a third to the EU.
