Swiss machinery manufacturer Zünd has said the launch of its new L3 digital leather cutter at Tanning Tech and SIMAC in Bologna this autumn was a success.

The company has told leatherbiz that visitors to its stand in Bologna, as well as customers already using the technology, have identified increases in productivity and speed as important potential benefits of using the L3.

It offers what Zünd refers to as “intelligent control technology”, an “advanced” drive system and “finely-tuned” digital cutting workflows, with loading and unloading of hides onto and from the cutting-table occurring at the same time to cut down on interruptions to production. It has a modular design concept, with some tools developed specifically for leather-cutting. Its punch tools, for example, are capable of punching up to eight holes per second in a finished hide.
