The chief executive of luxury leathergoods brand Bottega Veneta, Marco Bizzarri, has said he sees great potential for growth in the luxury goods market in India.

Giving the keynote address at an event in New Delhi organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in November, Mr Bizzarri said he felt India had a lot in common with Italy, especially because it has a tradition of producing luxury goods. He said there was “tremendous scope” for a flourishing luxury goods market in India.

A CII report has said sales of luxury goods in India will exceed $10 billion in 2014, up from $3.7 billion in 2007 and from $7.6 billion in 2012.
