Sri Lankan tannery bags export award

One of the largest tanneries in Sri Lanka, Ceylon Leather Products, has been commended for its apparel, textile and leather products at the National Business Excellence Awards conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce.

The tannery is based in Mattakkuliya while its footwear and leathergoods factories have moved to a two-acre site in Belummahara in the Gampaha District.

In 2007 it sold off land to be debt-free while in 2010 it took on extra investment to expand the business.
