Leather leads the way for Tuscan province

Official export statistics for the province of Pisa for the second quarter of 2013 suggest growth of 3% in shipments of finished leather compared to the same quarter of 2012.

On the face of it, this is good news for tanners in the Santa Croce sull’Arno cluster, but the figures also show a sharp rise (37.6%) in exports of semi-finished hides.

Leather was the province’s best-performing export sector over the three-month period.
