Rocketing demand for Michael Kors bags

Michael Kors reported a 40% rise in quarterly revenue $740.3 million and said it would open 100 stores next year as demand for its leather bags shows no signs of slowing.

The US brand is one of the fastest-growing companies in the "affordable luxury" segments, with its leather bags priced between $200 and $3,000.

"By driving a frequent flow of new and innovative products through its own stores and wholesale shops, the company is generating consumer excitement in a way we've never seen in the luxury accessories category," said Omar Saad, an analyst at research firm ISI Group.
