High-end leathergoods boost Danier's figures

Canada-based leather retailer Danier Leather has reported that sales for its first quarter ending September 28 rose by 5% to $24.2 million compared with $23.1 million during the first quarter last year.

Comparable store sales increased by 3%.

During the first quarter, one new shopping mall store and one new outlet location were opened.

Gross profit increased by 4% to $12.1 million compared with $11.6 million during the same period last year.

Danier has made several investments to support the growth of its higher margin accessories business and to enhance merchandise planning and sourcing capabilities.
