Australia: Hide prices up 37% in September

In Australia in September, the co-product value of a heavy steer had increased 11% year-on-year to $232.63 per head, boosted by improved hide prices, according to Kurrajong Meat Technology.

The average value for hides was 20% higher than in August, at $79.88 per head, and 37% higher than the corresponding period last year.

Prices were buoyed by strong interest at the Shanghai’s All China Leather Exhibition at the beginning of the month.
