CICB initiative links tanneries to fashion

The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) recently organised a series of workshops in tanneries in different regions of Brazil with the objective of promoting innovation through fashion and design.

Artist Heloísa Crocco and stylist Ronaldo Fraga partnered 13 tanneries to develop pieces of leather with special attributes, aligned with design trends and specific aesthetic features.

“Our idea was to promote what nature gave us, something that is naturally beautiful as it is,” said Ms Crocco. “So many people are promoting fake versions of it that what we have to do is the opposite.”

The initiative, Design na Pele, was supported by Brazilian Leather.
