Loake makes women's shoes for the first time

20/09/2013
Traditional goodyear welted footwear brand Loake has launched its first shoes for women as part of a collaboration with UK retailer Topshop.

However, the company stressed that the collection is a limited edition, and it is more focused on expanding the business through standalone retail stores and through wholesale.

The construction of a pair of its shoes involves about 130 craftspeople, 75 shoe parts and over 200 different operations, and it takes an average of eight weeks to complete each pair.
