Jaguar Land Rover is to recall 11,852 vehicles in China over possible engine and oil leakage problems, a week after a BMW joint venture announced it will recall more than 140,000.

Nearly 2,000 Jaguar-XF models made between July 2012 and May 2013, and XJs produced between March 2012 and May 2013, as well as 8,656 Land Rover Freelander 2s and Range Rover Auroras made between January 2012 and June 2013 will be recalled.

"The company's technical field reporting team was made aware of a limited number of incidents involving fuel leaks from the affected engine," Jaguar Land Rover said. "Following a thorough and detailed engineering investigation, Jaguar Land Rover has taken the decision to voluntarily recall all potentially affected vehicles."

Last week, BMW-Brilliance Automotive, a joint venture between Brilliance China Automotive and German luxury carmaker BMW, said it will recall more than 143,215 cars in China due to defects in their steering systems.
