New-generation leather technicians win places in Solofra training programme

17/07/2013
Four young technicians from Solofra in southern Italy have completed the theoretical part of an advanced training course in tanning technology and will now move onto practical modules in the area’s tanneries.

David Maddaloni, Michele Maffei, Osvaldo Milano and Domenico Pisano were the successful applicants for a local competition to receive training in innovation and tanning technology.

Italy’s ministry for learning, universities and research has supported the programme, aimed at bringing young, highly skilled technologists into the Solofra tanning cluster with advanced knowledge of leather chemicals and tanning processes.

The practical elements of the training will take place at two Solofra tanneries, DMD and Carisma, as well as at Chime, a distributor in Italy of leather chemicals manufactured by BASF.
