Hermès to open two further factories in France

Luxury leathergoods brand Hermès has announced that it will open two new factories in eastern France. The new production facilities will be located in Héricourt and Montbéliard in the Franche-Comté region, close to the border with Switzerland. Together, they will employ 600 people.

Hermès said on making the announcement that the factory at Héricourt would open first, in 2015 or 2016. It did not give a date for the start of production in Montbéliard.

The company already has a production site in the region, at Seloncourt. It will open up a temporary workshop next year in Franche-Comté to begin training a new group of leathergoods artisans.
