Romans CAD developer still expanding post-Lectra

French leathergoods and footwear technology provider Stratégies is to take its Romans CAD software programme into the Indian market.

Stratégies is the original developer of Romans CAD, although Lectra was the exclusive distributor of the technology until November 2010. Since that time, Paris-based Stratégies has been building up its own distribution network, with the move into the Indian market the latest part of its expansion.

It will work in India with local distributors who specialise in CAD-CAM products. Stratégies will also work with educational institutions in India to help design students learn to use its software before embarking on their careers.

On announcing the development, Stratégies chief executive, Jean-Pierre Pedeboy, said: “We want to see more and more customers take full advantage of our software solutions to gain competitiveness.” He went on to explain that software such as Romans CAD can be viable in fast developing markets such as India and can enable leathergoods and footwear companies to make “profound changes in their product development process”, creating stronger collaboration among internal teams, as well as with external suppliers and sub-contractors.

Support will be available to users in India and in other markets through a new web support centre that the company has set up at its headquarters in France.
