Former Tannery of the Year for China takes action on coal

A report from the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has said Xingye Leather, winner of the Tannery of the Year for China in 2011, has commissioned a specialist energy firm in its home province, Fujian, to help it reduce its carbon emissions.

Xingye is investing more than $15 million in the project, according to the report.

CLIA said Yonghe Energy had developed new technology to reduce carbon emissions from coal-fired energy systems, allowing emissions from coal-fired boilers to reduce to levels comparable with those fuelled by natural gas.

To meet national requirements on carbon emissions, companies that use coal energy have been told to make improvements.
