Polimoda joins Lectra education programme

Software and hide-cutting technology provider Lectra has announced a new partnership agreement with the Florence-based Polimoda international institute of marketing and fashion design.

Commenting on the development, Patrick De Muynck, head of Polimoda’s design department, said: “The partnership will allow us to meet the growing demands of the fashion industry, particularly in terms of new technology.”

Lectra runs an extensive education programme that brings together more than 850 institutions worldwide. The technology company says this demonstrates its commitment to future design and production professionals of the fashion and leathergoods sectors.

For Polimoda students in particular, Lectra’s managing director in Italy, Fabio Canali, said the agreement would be a big help. The school has incorporated pattern-making and marker-making solutions, Modaris and Diamino into its curriculum and students will use them during the three-year fashion technology course.

“For students, having access to our solutions is a true advantage when entering the jobs market, because they are used by the biggest Italian fashion brands,” Mr Canali said.
