Eagle Ottawa project will increase finishing capacity by at least 35%

Automotive tanning group Eagle Ottawa has revealed more details about the proposed expansion to its finishing and cutting plant at Szolnok in Hungary. A groundbreaking ceremony for an extension to the facility, 100 kilometres from Budapest, will take place on June 10.

Eagle Ottawa has told leatherbiz that the expansion will increase the physical size of the Szolnok plant, which opened in 2001, from its current 13,000 square-metres to 21,000 square-metres.

In addition, the company said its “current nominal production” of finishing and cutting 14,000 hides per week will increase to at least 19,000 and possibly to as much as 22,000 hides per week.

The project is expected to be complete by October and to create 150 new jobs.
