Short circuit blamed for tannery fire

A fire broke out at a tannery in Jajmau, India, on Saturday morning, destroying property and raw material.

The Times of India reports that fire spread from Dawn Tannery to another unit, but firefighters were able to extinguish it in a matter of hours.

A fire official told the publication a short circuit was the likely cause. A police official said: "The fire devastated finished and unfinished leather products. The scale of the loss is yet to be ascertained."
