CLIA extends solidarity to earthquake victims in Sichuan

Registering a magnitude of 7.0, the earthquake claimed almost 200 lives and destroyed many buildings in and around the city of Ya’an.
On hearing the news, CLIA president, Su Chaoying, got in touch with the Sichuan Leather Association to ask about the direct effects on members of the leather industry. The initial news was that most production facilities and their workers had come through unscathed, although one footwear manufacturer, the Yang Shoemaking Company, said ongoing aftershocks were making it difficult to return to normal production.
Mr Su said in a letter to the local authorities: “I would like to extend on behalf of the China Leather Association our deepest condolences to all affected people in Ya’an. We sincerely pray that people in the affected areas will be able to rebuild their homes at an early date.”
