Winners of APLF awards announced

Turkey’s Çetinkaya Kürk Deri won the award for Best Fashion Leather with its creative use of colours and textures in supple leathers suitable for garments.
Wipelli International of Italy won the Best New Leather prize for its vintage-style Africa collection made from buffalo hides, with a nubuck hand feel worked by hand. Its select hides average 40 feet to give a higher cutting yield, making the leather ideal for bags and furniture.
Best Luxury Leather was awarded to the salmon collection of Iceland’s Atlantic Leather, which creatively transforms discarded fish skins into luxury materials.
Aqsa International of India won the New Processing Technology award. Aqsa uses phosphonium tanning which uses less salt and results in leather that reportedly retains greater colour brilliance.
Asia Luxe Philippines took the Best Component Award for its handcrafted mother-of-pearl components and accessories for shoes, gloves, bags and jewellery.
At Fashion Access, Vinaastee International of Singapore was voted as having the Best Ladies’ Bag Collection with its Tacicco brand. England’s Simpson - London won the Best Men’s Bag Collection award for its masculine range of bags and portfolios. Guangzhou Top-Beauty Arts & Crafts of China took the prize for Best Fashion Bag Collection with its youthful line that combines leather and beading.
Best Ladies’ Footwear Collection went to Michael Antonio Footwear Group from the US for its use of colours, silhouettes and material combinations. Madras of Japan had the Best Men’s Footwear Collection with its high quality men's shoes with unique features such as contoured toes and gradated leather.
The Best Lifestyle Collection Award was given to Guangzhou Jitian Yaosi Leather Co from China for its lightweight, compact and practical yet bags and backpacks combining leather, canvas and nylon.
